General Information Error During Reconciliation Error Message Creating a Portable Quickbooks File

General Information

This KB is to cover many uncommon issues that come up during use of Quickbooks.

Error During Reconciliation

Sometimes during reconciliation attempts, an error message will come up blocking this function. The first step is to make sure the user is signed into their Quickbooks Online account within the application. Once done, close the application and re-open the file you are working in. If this does not work, or the following error below opens, you may need to check the permissions on the file and the folders within appdata.

The KB on Quickbooks online states to give “everyone” access to the file. That may indeed be needed, but in many cases, Quickbooks wants the exact user that is getting access to be added into the folders and file permissions needed. Once added, restart the application.

Creating a Portable Quickbooks File

If a client is trying to create a portable QB file from a network share and it is saying you do not have the permissions to do so the method to save it is as follows.

-Copy the QB file from the Network share and save it to the local drive.

-Open the copy of the file

-Create portable copy from that opened instance of the file
